"Allegations of irregular business dealings", Bankrupt within the last few years Acid attack on his luxury car Dubious tatoo on his arm that has to be covered up Very suspect refereeing decisions
This chap doesn't sound entirely honest to me, though he might convince some on here!

Agreed. To call it 'silly money' is very odd indeed...is gph a tramp or a refugee?

65k plus 1k a match is nothing and exactly why they could be open to match fixing. I'm sure some stories will come out in time. Any industry with this much money in it and with so much betting on outcomes attracts the sort of people who will try and get a favorable outcome.

65k plus 1000 a game is Not Silly money...around 100k a year...
A fraction of an average Prem squad player...
Pay them more...but hold them to much higher standards...more transparency ...reviews with technology on key decisions...
It's an 8billion plus business...so pay them accordingly...and attract really top performers...

Top refs get silly money - £65,000pa, plus 1k for each Premiership game they take, according to the Mail.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2909239/Top-Premier-League-referees-earn-FIVE-TIMES-Football-League-officials.html
The National Careers Service confirms their salaries are of this order.

I think they got expenses plus something like a tenner a game when I first started following football. Or maybe they started getting that a bit later.
Obviously, refs today are 100s of times better than they were then...

If it's not football-related, surely it must be political or pornographic.
Mark above a heart with an arrow through it, above Clattenburg, would only confirm what everyone knows

I've read (somewhere, can't remember!) he has a Newcastle United tattoo re the long shirt theory. But, yeah, he's worn short sleeves before. Certainly have never seen an image of it, if true. Maybe he got it recently for their terrific season so far...?

I don't doubt that referees have taken bribes. It's been proven to have happened in other countries.
I just don't think Clattenburg was on the take on Saturday. He simply made a bad decision. Certainly no evidence of a clear campaign to favour Palace.

The conspiracy thing I don't buy. The betting thing could definitely be accurate. Much more surprising things have happened than a ref taking a few quid from a bookie.

Don't for a second believe in the conspiracy / betting nonsense, but that definitely looked a straight red to me.

The only non football club suggestion I can find is that he has the Olympic rings as a tattoo after refereeing the Mens Football final at the London Olympics.

Who knows! Am fascinated what this tattoo he has to cover up is. Supposedly not football related so cant imagine what would need to be hidden from the sensitive eyes of fans if its not I LUV MAN UTD or something implying bias.

No, there is a clear gap of about 12 inches between the bottom of the ball and the ground at the time of contact. He got the ball so it follows his foot was at least those 12 inches off the ground.
